Ontario
Long Term Care Association
The passion
behind the compassion
The Ontario Long Term Care Association
is the voice for excellence in long term care. Founded in 1959, OLTCA was
originally known as Associated Nursing Homes Incorporated of Ontario and
later as the Ontario Nursing Home Association.
There are currently 498 long term
care facilities in Ontario caring for over 57,000 residents. OLTCA represents
330 of these homes where more than 31,000 people live and an equal number
of people work. Over the next four years an additional 20,000 long term
care beds will be built in Ontario.
OLTCA also represents the professional
management staff of long term care facilities through its Professional
Advisory Council. As well, OLTCA has over 200 commercial members who provide
products and services to the long term care sector.
OLTCA operates under the direction
of a volunteer Board of Directors, elected from the membership, and is
managed by an Executive Director and a team of professional staff who provide
coordination and liaison among the members, as well as providing input
on public policy development. The OLTCA works in partnership with the Ministry
of Health and Long Term Care in particular on resident care concerns, policies,
legislation, regulatory issues and funding.
OLTCA members are known for the high
level of administrative and management expertise they bring to the delivery
of quality long term care services. This expertise is supported by the
activities of various OLTCA committees and initiatives dealing with resident
care, human resources, professional development, training and education.
OLTCA is the catalyst behind the
issues. The organization that promotes vigorously, advocates tirelessly
and, above all, gets the job done. For our members. For our residents.
